$495A workshop presented by Evolved Education Co., provided by ThinkSRSD and Pooja Patel
July 11, 8:30 am – 3pm
July 12, 8:30 am – 3pm
Prepare your students to write to:
- express who they are
- sources learn in all content areas
- change themselves and the world
Over 100 empirical studies show the effectiveness of the strategies featured in this course. Every district using these makes significant gains on all assessments and in indicators of students’ enjoyment of writing.
Learn the Power Routines that help students learn and teachers utilize the road map in teaching the writing process, with focus in:
- genre vocabulary instruction
- formative assessment
- graphic organizers
- analyzing models
- think alouds
- collaborative writing
- mnemonics
- goal setting
- student-choice
- authentic writing
- self-regulation
- self-talk while writing
Power Routines emphasize developing positive thoughts and strategic behaviors that writers will associate and utilize while writing. Learn how to use the strategies, transfer them to different writing purposes and contexts, and utilize them independently. Power Routines enable students to cultivate the self-regulation capabilities expert writers use.
Weave these into any literacy framework— from TC’s Readers and Writers Workshop to balanced literacy workshops to core programs. They can be used with different curriculum standards, such as Common Core and Next Generation.
